A PVC Pipe Production Line Story in Algeria: From Empty Workshop to Stable Local Production
In northern Algeria, a local building materials company once depended heavily on imported PVC pipes. Long delivery times and high transportation costs pushed the factory owner, Ahmed, to consider a new path: building a local PVC pipe production line.
The journey did not begin with machines, but with an empty workshop. Before equipment arrived, the factory was carefully planned according to the production line requirements. The workshop was designed with a length of more than 23 meters and a height of over 3 meters, with additional space reserved for finished product storage. This preparation laid a solid foundation for stable production.
During installation, engineers followed a standard process flow, from raw material mixing and feeding to twin-screw extrusion, die head shaping, vacuum sizing cooling, laser marking, hauling, cutting, and stacking. For Ahmed, this was not just a machine, but a system slowly coming to life.
On the first test run day, the first PVC pipe smoothly came out of the die. After cooling and cutting, the 4-meter pipes were neatly stacked in the storage area. For Ahmed, this moment replaced months of waiting for imported products with the confidence of local manufacturing.
Another important change was the workforce structure. Only two main operators are required to run the entire production line, with one worker responsible for finished product storage. This significantly reduced labor pressure while improving overall efficiency.
Today, the factory runs stably. The locally produced PVC pipes are widely used in municipal drainage and construction projects across Algeria. Ahmed has already started planning for the second phase of capacity expansion, hoping to bring more “Made in Algeria” products to neighboring markets.
More and more similar stories are happening across emerging markets, showing that PVC pipe production lines are not just machines, but a starting point for local industrial growth.
