When discussing PE pipe production lines with customers, I often encounter a very common situation:They know they want to produce PE pipes, but they haven’t clearly decided which pipe diameters to focus on.This is quite normal, especially for customers who are new to pipe production or planning to expand their product range.
However, from an equipment selection perspective, pipe diameter is a key prerequisite.
If the diameter range is unclear, it becomes difficult to properly match the extruder model, die design, haul-off system, and even to ensure overall line stability.

Taking PE pipe production lines as an example, extruder models are usually selected based on the main pipe diameter range (the following configurations are common industry references):
1️⃣ 20–63 mm PE pipe
Typically matched with an SJ65×33 single screw extruder, suitable for small-diameter water pipes and electrical conduits. The system is flexible with relatively controlled investment.
2️⃣ 20–110 mm PE pipe
Usually produced with an SJ75×33 single screw extruder, a very popular range among customers, balancing output capacity and operational stability.
3️⃣ 75–250 mm PE pipe
Commonly configured with an SJ90×33 single screw extruder, which requires higher extrusion capacity, better melt stability, and more precise line matching. This setup is more suitable for customers with a clear target market or project-based orders.
